Itinerary:
Day 1: Welcome to the Green Island
Upon your arrival at Ponta Delgada International Airport you’ll be met by a private driver and brought to your city center hotel. The rest of the day is yours to explore the cobblestone streets of the Azores’ largest city. Today you can choose to relax on the areas volcanic black sand beaches or visit the baroque lava stone church of Senhor Santo Cristo.
Day 2: Lagoa do Fogo & Furnas
A morning pickup from your hotel for a scenic drive around the island. The first stop will be in the beautiful seaside town of Vila Franca do Campo to taste the famous Queijadas da Vila. Next,
stop at Terra Nostra Park to view the award winning botanical garden. The tour continues on to Lagoa das Furnas, where you will be able to watch your lunch, Cozido das Furnas, being
prepared directly in the hot springs. After lunch you will continue to Miradouro do Ferro, where you will see the archipelago’s oldest crater, home to some of the world’s richest hydro polis, with 22 different kinds of mineral/medicinal waters. On your return journey to Ponta Delgada you’ll stop at Tea factory and Miradouro de Santa Iria to take in the breathtaking views.
Day 3: Visit the Island of the Sun, Santa Maria
This excursion will require an early morning thirty-minute morning flight to Vila do Porto where you’ll be picked up and taken on an island tour. On Santa Maria, you’ll visit the historic sites where Christopher Columbus stopped on his return voyage from the Americas, the beautiful bay of Sao Laurenco, and you’ll have lunch at a local restaurant. An evening flight back to Ponta Delgada.
Day 4: Today is a free day Relax in the marina or head into town for some shopping. If you’re up for another adventure, go on a local whale watch tour.
Day 5: Until Next Time
Return transfers will be provided based on your flight schedule.
$949 per person, double occupancy – we will match same gender guests to pair up and eliminate solo supplement. $100 deposit to hold your space. Solo room requests, $240 additional.
